Dr. Mimi Zhao, PhD is a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Florida and contract provider at The Meaningful Life Center. She received her graduate training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Mississippi, and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Medical College of Georgia/Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center consortium and her post-doctoral training at the Orlando VA Medical Center. She currently works full time as staff psychologist at the Orlando VA Medical Center.
Dr. Zhao specializes in the treatment of trauma related disorders (including complex trauma) and DBT and is certified in Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy. She is also experienced in assessment and treatment of other mental conditions such as anxiety, mood, eating disorders, insomnia, and chronic pain as well as cognitive assessment and ADHD testing. Dr. Zhao has a special interest in using third wave cognitive behavioral therapies (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Therapy) that emphasizes acceptance, mindfulness, and values to facilitate a meaningful and purposeful life.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Zhao enjoys various outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, camping snorkeling to name a few), traveling, volunteering for the local art museum, spending time with her friends, and seeing live music.
