Maria Aguiar (she/her/hers), MA is a registered mental health counseling intern at The Meaningful Life Center. Maria earned her degree in School Counseling-Licensure from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Maria has a background in working with young adults, parents, children and adolescents. Maria also has experience working with individuals in inpatient settings, as well as working with individuals who have experienced childhood trauma, anxiety, and depression. Her passion includes, but is not limited to, helping individuals with relationship issues, finding a work-life balance, LGBTQIA+ issues, overcoming burnout, ADHD, career coaching, stress/anxiety management and low self-esteem.
Prior to joining The Meaningful Life Center, Maria worked as an elementary school counselor. As a school counselor, her focus was in helping students create and achieve goals within the areas of academics, career and social-emotional. During her graduate school years, Maria maintained a graduate assistantship at the Multicultural Center at Kutztown University. Her main role at the Multicultural Center was to reach out to underrepresented populations at high schools and encourage youth to seek higher education. Maria strived to empower and expose student participants to college life opportunities and experiences. She also helped to provide opportunities for individuals to explore a greater sense of self-awareness.
Outside of her clinical duties, Maria loves to exercise, play with her labradoodle, and travel the world. She has been to 10 different countries, including Egypt, Morocco, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, and Colombia.
