Drew Gomez-Erickson (he/him/his) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. He is currently a Lead Therapist and the Training and Development Coordinator at The Meaningful Life Center. His counseling experience includes treating individuals, couples, and groups in residential, outpatient, and school-based settings. Prior to becoming a counselor, Drew spent over 10 years working in the education system.
As a clinician, Drew strives to create a safe, supportive environment for his clients. He believes that therapy is most effective when clients and clinicians work together. From his perspective, clients are the experts in themselves, so he combines their knowledge of themselves with his knowledge of therapeutic approaches, education strategies, and popular culture to enhance the therapeutic process by providing clients the space to explore their presenting concerns through a lens that is easily understood and relatable.
Drew’s areas of clinical focus include: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, identity concerns, and phase of life changes. He specializes in working with clients from stigmatized populations, such as the LGBTQ+ community, the neurodivergent community, the kink/BDSM community, and the consensual non-monogamy community.
Drew is trained in multiple treatment modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In addition to working with clients, Drew is passionate about educating and training mental health professionals. He has spoken at several conferences, conducted webinars, and taught continuing education courses. He has also published articles in the Florida Mental Health Counselor Association’s In Sessions Magazine and The Board Game Academics Victory Points Magazine.
